Upper Hunter Shire Council has won an award for White Park Arena, from Parks and Leisure Australia for the 'Best Regional/Rural Industry Contribution' in NSW or ACT.

The wet weather was no hindrance to the official opening celebrations for the White Park undercover arena in Scone on Saturday afternoon.

The event was a celebration of all things equestrian, starting with representatives of the Murrurundi 12th Light Horse Troop who held the official ribbon as it was cut by special guest Dr Ruth White OAM, representing the White family who donated the land now called White Park in 1924. Dr White was accompanied by The Hon Barnaby Joyce MP, Michael Johnsen MP, Mayor Wayne Bedggood, Cr Lee Watts, representing White Park Management Committee, and UHSC General Manager Steve McDonald for the official ribbon cutting.

Upper Hunter Shire Council is once again proudly supporting the Scone Horse Festival with this year’s theme - Legends, Myths + Fantasy.

The festival showcases the versatility of the horse and the important role they play in the local area, from stock horses to farriers, tent pegging to rodeo and everything in between. See the spirit of Scone come alive with a stunning street parade, world class horse racing and loads of fun, family friendly shows and activities. There will be something for everyone.
